Tropical Storm Nicole recently passed via the Caribbean, flooding Cuba and causing the recent Jamaica mudslides. The remnants of the storm are hitting the U.S.. The South is already feeling the consequences. NC floods have already begun. North Carolina has a state of emergency declared by the Governor. Other flood warnings are in effect. You will find flood watches from the Carolinas to Maine. There is also a possibility of tornados. Tornado warnings are being observed from Virginia to Maryland. So far, this is the worst of the effects of the 2010 hurricane time of year for the mainland United States.
Flooding is taking over Carolina about now
Cable News Network reports that Beverly Purdue, the governor of North Carolina, announced the state to be in a state of emergency. Tropical Storm Nicole is dying off after passing Jamaica and Cuba. Sadly, it is hitting the United States of America coast first. The storm caused the Jamaica mudslides, which lately killed two people. In three days, the state got over 12 inches of rain. This is when it began to flood. By October 2, an additional 8 inches of rain is expected to fall and hit the East Coast. North Carolina has a place called Wilmington that has already seen lots of rain. Up to 15 inches has fallen there. It is almost impossible to use any roads there.
Monitoring for tornadoes to come
There is a strong possibility of a tornado breaking out someplace on the East Coast due to Tropical Storm Nicole. New Jersey has begun a tornado watch. Apparently everywhere from Carolina to Maryland is watching and hoping nothing happens. Tornado and flash flood warnings are everywhere. Even Washington D.C. is having a tornado warning right now. There is also some anxiety that New York flooding may cause the subway system of New York City to become flooded.
